1. You can use a period to separate the sentences. A storm was coming. We had to pack our belongings and leave town.

2. You can add a comma and a conjunction such as and, but, or, so, yet. A storm was coming, so we had to pack our belongings and leave town.

3. You can place a semi-colon between the two sentences. A storm was coming; we packed our belongings and left town.
4. Add a subordinating conjunction like because, since, while, and if. We left town because there was a storm coming.
